I cut my teeth on Seow, but it is not my favorite grammar. Modern Hebrew has three verb tenses. And that the vowel sound can change the word. In the grammatical system I will be using, time significance exists solely as a connotation in those forms of the verb which in modern Hebrew will come to denote the past tense and future tense respectively. If a student wants to prepare for elementary biblical Hebrew before the course begins, I recommend spending time with modern Hebrew tapes or CDs. Only then do we go to the aleph-bet and proceed with a very conventional, grammar-based curriculum.
